The Importance of Leading With Kindness
Kindness is important with everything we do.
My partner, Adam, and I were talking about the differences between being nice and showing kindness the other day. It seems people can be nice, but often without any depth behind their actions… more like “nice’ as a cultural standard but without the inherent depth that kindness provides.
I’ve found that kindness is a form of love that I happily lead with. I thank my parents for raising me that way. On trips and hikes that Coyote and The Magpie offers, kindness and inclusion are key. We all have differences in the way that we learn, handle stress and joy ,and how we function in life. One persons joy may be overwhelming to another. One persons stress may inspire action, while another person may shut down in a similar situaton. Empathy goes a long way to better understanding each other. Kindness isn’t weakness, but a deep gesture towards inclusion. Let’s strive to empower each other in a healthy way. Let’s show how to work well in a group setting and support each other.
We all start somewhere! Why not start your backpacking journey with an understanding group, one that will also give you the skills to go out on your own with confidence.
