Ahjumawi Lava Springs Beginner Kayak Packing
August 28th-30th
Join us for a beginner kayak packing trip!
We will paddle our kayaks and camping gear across a series of lakes to our campsites. From there we will spend a relaxing time exploring, hiking or just taking it easy! This park has amazing views, cultural significance and room to explore. This trip is 3 days and 2 nights long. No experience is necessary, all genders welcome. 18 and older, please! Kayak, life jacket and paddle are included or bring your own.
-
We will arrive at boat launch and load up our gear. From there, we will paddle to our campsite, approximately 5 miles away.
Upon arrival, we will set up our camp and spend the evening relaxing and getting our bearings.
-
On this day, we will explore the park by trail or by water and talk about the history and plant life. Again, relax and be mindful in this beautiful space.
-
This is our day to have an easy, slow morning and pack up our camping gear. We will say a respectful goodbye to the park and paddle back to our cars.
What to Bring and What to Expect
Paddle
This trip has limited capacity and will only allow for 6 people to join. Bring your own kayak or canoe or borrow one of ours free of charge. We will paddle up to 5 miles on the morning of arrival and again on our last day. We will have an early start time to avoid rough water.
Camping
Standard camping gear and food choices will be required for this trip…nothing special but keep things light as we have to load them into our kayaks. We will share a few campsites, all of which have food storage boxes. We will need to be bear safe on this trip.
Relaxing
We will have time to paddle and explore but feel free to bring an art project or book with you for down time. This space is very calm and easy-going. Let’s talk about adventure, skills or anything you’d like.
Meditation
There will be optional reiki sessions and mindfulness meditations offered. Feel free to join or pass… no pressure here.
A virtual meeting will be held prior to our trip to go over logistics.
